Ko Si Chang is not really well known to tourists but it definitely is worth of a visit if you don’t know what to do during a weekend in Bangkok. The island is situated at a 45 minutes ferry ride from Sriracha (1h30 from the capital by mini-van). This fishing village was once a royal beach retreat and is fabulously car-free.

Rent a motorbike or a bicycle and explore the island. Check out Tham Yai Phrik Vipassana Monastery, Hat Tha Wang Palace, Wat Atsadang Nimit, Phra Chudadhut Palace, San Jao Phaw Khao Yai Chinese Temple or even Dracula’s castle.

One day is enough to discover most of the sightseeings but take your time and stay over-night. You can then enjoy a good seafood plate and especially its delicious squid. You might even be lucky enough to spot a local white squirrel.
