Bangkok Foodie: บ้านหญิง Baan Ying, Café and Meal, Terminal 21
You can spot this café in several shopping malls in Bangkok. I always appreciated its décor but never tried the food. Now it’s done, and you may wonder: how was it?
How does it look like?
From its slightly Arabic styled logo to its wooden charm both edgy and homey, Baan Ying is certainly a great place to hang out. The one in Terminal 21 (San Fransisco floor) has the advantage to have a view on Asoke district. So don’t hesitate to fight for a seat near the humongous windows.
How do they treat you?
The service is both professional and friendly (and they can speak good English). You can feel the family love and care. Food comes fast and if you are impatient you can still use its free wifi.
How is the food?
I really appreciated the extensive menu and the ton of choice you can get out of it. Its food is unique and mostly thai-western mixes but done in a subtle way. I tried their gung-chey-nam-pla (raw shrimps in fish sauce), the buffalo chicken grilled cheese, the tom yam pasta and the brownie. Everything was really delicious. But I feel that the sandwich would have been much better with a quality bread (wholegrain for example) instead of this white mushy bread.
Baan Ying isn’t cheap and every dish is around 150-200 bahts. Beverages are around a 100 bahts. But it is ok if you can just come with friends or family and share dishes.
I definitely recommend this place to bring your family or your friends and share some dishes together. The variety of the menu and the quality of the service and execution will for sure makes you come over and over again.
How to go there?
Baan Ying in Terminal 21 is located on the 5th floor (San Fransisco)
