Bangkok Foodie: After you, Central World

There is a big fuss being made about After you and all its branches in Bangkok. It is one of the rare cake shop and café that requires a queue ticket system. But would the sweet tooth patient patrons be satisfied with their experience?

How does it look like?
You can’t deny the charm of this little café. The whole place looks like a little wooden Japanese kawaii haven. I love the presentation of the different desserts and beverages.

How do they treat you?
I am a bit confused with the service. Even though there are a lot of customers, there are only few staffs. And you can’t take your order at your table so you need to go to the cashier, remember your table number and order your food there. If you don’t want to let your bags unattended, then one person has to stay at your table. It is not convenient. As for your food, it takes a VERY long time to come. Your friend might get their order in 5 minutes but then you will have to wait another 30-45 minutes to get the complete table served.

How is the food?
I know this place is very popular but I wasn’t too impressed with the food. Everything is VERY sweet and if you aren’t much of a sweet tooth, no need to try it out. My friend had the shibuya honey toast and really enjoyed it. The gourmand coffee was interesting but cold by the time it arrived. As for the Nutella hazelnut pancake, its texture was really off and dried out.

How much?
It is on the pricey side of the spectrum. And a little overpriced actually compared to other franchises, but it is not surprising when you know its popularity amongst locals and tourists.

I guess you need to pay to be hip. After you is definitely the place to be and to take instagram pics. It is a charming place with great looking food but the taste let me linger for more (or less). I still remember their Ari branch though with much tenderness.
