Hong Kong Foodie: 大家樂 Café de Coral
Hong Kong residents love their cafés, especially for breakfast. The one you will probably see the most when wondering the town has to be Café de Coral 大家樂. I have tried one of the Mongkok branches
A little history
It was 1968 when Café de Coral gained its first foothold on Sugar Street, Causeway Bay. Thanks to years of diligent work, Café de Coral has evolved from a single outlet to the leading Chinese fast food chain with over 140 restaurants, serving more than 300,000 Hong Kong customers daily.
As a leader in Chinese fast food market, Café de Coral will continue to thrive on the company philosophy of making customers the topmost priority and constantly outperforming itself. We bring along better products, environment and service quality to Hong Kong people. Our team of over 14,000 members pledges to deliver quality services and good value for money, so as to fulfill our motto of “A Hundred Points of Excellence”.
How does it look like?
I really like the vibe of the café. Even though, it is a self-service, the sitting area looks modern and comfy.
How do they treat you?
Service is minimum but efficient. You order at the cashier, then you wait in line for your food to be placed on a tray, which you will bring yourself to your table.
How is the food?
We had the breakfast set composed of Roasted Chicken Fillet w/ Maple Syrup, scrambled eggs and a toast. The chicken wasn’t too sweet and tender. The eggs were fluffly and the toast crispy. As for the coffee it isn’t much more than a Nescafe red cup.
The whole set cost 25.50HKD plus an extra 3HKD if you want your coffee iced.
I enjoyed my breakfast there among Hong Kong residents. You don’t feel like a tourist which is a great plus. Food is basic but better than most fast food joints. I will have to come back for lunch or dinner, when the offer is totally different.
How to go there?
There are many locations in Hong Kong and overseas. You can find all the details on their website.
