Bangkok Foodie: May Veggie Home, Asoke
Even though I am not a vegan, neither a vegetarian, it is not often that I stumble upon a vegan restaurant, outside of the vegetarian festival. I do like to try new kind of food and especially healthy food. So let’s dive in May Veggie Home.
A little description
May Veggie Home is a Vegetarian Vegan Restaurant in Bangkok. We offer you a very unique kind of Vegetarian Vegan menu including dessert, ice cream and various kinds of dishes made by our experienced chef using traditional ingredients with special recipes to keep vitamins alive in food. Our food is MSG free so you can enjoy healthy food in our vegetarian restaurant.
How does it look like?
The place is divided in two areas, a café and a regular restaurant. The place, even though just opened, looks a bit dated. It is charming though, as can be your old aunt’s kitchen or an artisanal boutique.
How do they treat you?
The staff is really friendly and is knowledgeable about their products. They truly seem passionate about the vegan lifestyle.
How is the food?
I have just tried their coffee shop so I can’t judge their savory dishes (check out their menu)
I really enjoyed their soy latte. It was yummy and not sweetened which is so rare. My friend had the blue pea tea, which was good and esthetically pleasant. We decided to share a piece of their vegan cakes. There were only two choices at this time: a strawberry crepe cake and a chocolate cake. Even though the crepe cake looked delicious, we opted for the chocolate cake. Sadly it was quite hard to eat as it was too thick, dry and crumbly. We only had a little wooden fork to eat it, which was a challenge on its own.
I love their passion and the concept. I will probably come back for their savory dishes and their organic coffee, as for the vegan bakery, I’m not convinced.
