The legendary comedian Joan Rivers passed away at age 81 from surgical complications. Daughter Melissa Rivers confirmed her mother passed away in a statement : “It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother.

Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.

My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”

Joan Rivers was a pioneer for female comedians and will be both missed by the Comedy and fashion industry. She was indeed the host of the famous E! show: Fashion Police. The one who was making hilarious jokes on everything, planned her funeral in the most peculiar way:

“I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag.

And I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyoncé’s.”
